Ancient World, Sasanian Dynasty, Khusro II (590-628 CE), Silver Drachm, 4.28 gms 30.95 mm, Mint AM (Amol), RY 6 (Sita), Obverse: Crowned Bust Facing Right of the king right star on left, star inside crescent right, crescents with star at 3, 6, and 9 o clock in the outer margin Reverse: Fire altar with two attendants on either side wearing crescent headdress, Mint AM (Amol) on the right in Pahlavi and year 6 Sita, very fine, very scarce. ULA 469

Footnote: Amol was amongst the most important and the most ancient towns of the Sasanian Empire. It was the capital of Tabaristan(Mazandaran) and for the long time after the Arab conquest, it presevered its Ispehbeds or Independent princes of the Zoroastrian faith, these princes never inscribed the name of Amol on their coins but used the principality Tapuristan(Tpurstan). So Khusro the second’s coins were the last coins to bear the mint name Amol.
