Mughal, Nur al-Din Muhammad Jahangir ( AH 1014-1037, AD 1605-1627 AD), Silver Rupee, 11.02 gms, 20.99 mm, Surat Mint, citing Queen Nur Jahan, chief consort of Emperor Jahangir. Obverse has Sad Zewar poetic couplet, which reads as “Ze hukam shahe Jahangir yaft sad zewar ba naame Noor Jahan badshah begum zar”, “which means by the order of Emperor ( Shah ) Jahangir, Gold gained ( attained ) a hundred beauties when the name of Queen Nur Jahan (“light of the world”) Badshah Begum was struck on it.
